(Scholastic Gold key)

An incessant alarm clock promulgates
The beginning of another marked-up calendar box.
Caramel-colored tendrils of Earl Grey
Make slow turbulence in my steaming teacup
While dust and cat urine thicken
On heaps of my childhood,
Burying my past
A forgotten paradise.

Where has paradise gone?
The clock knows.
It sees everything.
Late nights, lazy weekends, Christmas mornings.
Through eternal ethereal green arcs
Of three stiff arms
It wipes away
Stolen. Forever.

Only framed school photos
And outgrown t-shirts remain.
Time marches on.
